Jarrison Time performs regular license validation checks with the Jarrison Systems API. If Jarrison Time is unable to communicate with the licensing server for for several consecutive days, the following message may appear:
“This license requires a connection to the internet. Last check was 7 days ago”
Possible causes:
- Loss of internet connectivity between the system and the licensing server
- Network configuration or firewall changes
- Antivirus or endpoint protection blocking communication
- ICMP (ping) traffic being disabled
- Mismatched Registration settings
Solution 1
Verify that the pc can communicate with the licensing server by opening Command Prompt. Ping 156.0.216.13 or reg.jarrison.net. If the ping fails, investigate the network, firewall or internet connection.
Solution 2
Some antivirus or endpoint protection software may block communication with the License API. Temporarily disable the antivirus or security software and test the connection to the License API again
If communication succeeds, allow rules in the antivirus/firewall configuration.
Solution 3
A mismatch may exist between the API and the current system Registration configuration. This can occur if Registration settings were changed or if the license request was not resubmitted after changes were made.
Verify the Registration details (Setup > Registration) and resubmit a license request if necessary.
Solution 4
If ICMP (ping) traffic is disabled on the network, enable the ‘Skip API Ping’ setting by closing all Jarrison Time products, then opening the following file C:\JT-Data\Config\Jarrison.ini and add the entry ‘Skip API Ping=True’. Save the file and restart Jarrison Time.
Now that Jarrison Time’s options are accessible (if ICMP being off was indeed the issue), after logging in, navigate to Setup > System Configuration > Misc, then set Skip API Ping to True there as well.
This saves the setting in the database and applies it to services running on the application server, instead of only affecting a single workstation.
If the issue persists after completing all the steps above, please contact Jarrison Systems Support by sending an email to support@jarrison.net for further assistance, and provide any relevant error messages or logs available from the affected machine.
