It can happen that there is a need to know the summed value of a time category or counter at various points through a period, or to pass values between periods. Jarrison Time provides the utility to achieve this through the Is a Running Total setting for time categories and counters.
Usage Example
In this example we’ll look at how to track a time category called “Banked Time” through a period. Each day some time may contribute to the category, and the cumulative value should roll forwards.
In Time Categories, Running Total is marked Is a Running Total.

On the day program Rules tab, today’s banked time is added to yesterday’s Running Total to give us an updated Running Total.

Sample of results:
Without Is a Running Total applied, the RunTotal column displays the summed results of the period in the totals (73:03), which is not desired here.

With the option applied, the period total is correct (18:59).

In the following period, RunTotal continues from above, until the next day with transactions modifies it.

Note that Is Running Total categories will have totals per the results of the last day of the period. This means that if there is any change made to the result on the last day, the period total will take that value. In the image below, a manual adjustment was applied on Sunday where the Running Total category was amended to 05:00. That becomes the period total as it’s the last value in the period.
