A Morpho Sigma device can be setup for use with Jarrison System’s Web Server, using a GSM/SIM connection. The setup will require a separate 3G dongle modem.
The service is compatible with Telkom, Vodacom, and MTN networks, however please note that MTN and Vodacom require an “Unrestricted APN” application process to be completed to allow port forwarding on their networks
The service provider should ideally be selected based on network coverage for the particular areas in which devices will be connecting from.
Sigma Dongle installation:
1. Insert SIM card in 3G dongle
2. Connect 3G dongle to SIGMA terminal and power it up
3. Enter Menu to access configuration menu on terminal -Enter the Communication Menu
4. From there choose Network and then select “Mobile Network” (only available if a compatible 3G dongle is connected to the terminal). Settings for the APN should automatically be populated if the SIM is correctly detected and activated.
For Telkom “APN Name” can stay as populated by default
For Vodacom the “APN Name” must be adjusted to “unrestricted” (won’t work if the unrestricted registration process has not been completed with Vodacom support)
For MTN the “APN Name” must be adjusted to “mtnvpn” (won’t work if the MTN-VPN registration process has not been completed with MTN support)
Sigma Device Configuration:
1. Connect to your Sigma terminal with MBTB.
2. Select Key Configuration Menu and update the following Settings
comm_channels_state.TCP_client = 1
TCP_client.host_ip = 197.245.193.133
TCP_client.host_port = 11030
3. Write Changes and exit
On the machine that the JT Engine is running on, you need to install the Ideco IOT service
The “Ideco IOT Service” or “Ideco GSM.dll” has been targeted for dot net Framework 4.0 – it should therefore be compatible with Microsoft Windows operating systems that supports Dot Net 4.0 and later (Microsoft Windows 7 / Windows Server 2008 or greater)
Credentials for elevated user account (Administrator privileges) must be provided to install to the “Ideco IOT Service” successfully
Ideco IOT Client installation and basic configuration:
1. Run the “Ideco IOT Installer.exe” to install the management interface. The Default path is to Program Files x86… but can be adjusted as required.
2. Run the “Ideco Simga IOT.exe” from the location selected for installation. Be sure to set the application to run “As Administrator” if the current user has insufficient privileges
3. When application starts up for the first time you will be sent to the “Service Install” Tab. Click on the “INSTALL SERVICE” button and provide elevated user credentials when prompted. Installation status, progress and errors will be logged in the textbox directly beneath this button, this information might be helpful to in troubleshooting service installation errors. After successful installation the Ideco Sigma IOT Service should start automatically. If the service did not start, click on the “Start Service” Button to retry. Service start errors will be logged in the textbox under the “Service Install” Tab.
4. After successful Service installation proceed to the “Configuration” Tab and enter your registered username (email address) and account password (To request a new account or reset your password contact support@ideco.co.za )
Click on SAVE button to save changes
5. On the “IOT Devices” Tab you can enable devices by ticking their corresponding tickbox and entering device name (Hostname) and serial number for the device (To assign a new device to your account please contact support@ideco.co.za )
Click on SAVE button to save changes
Please Note:
Hostnames should not have any spaces or special characters in them
Hostnames should not start with a number
Hostnames should not be shorter than 4 or exceed 16 characters
Hostnames or Serial numbers should not be duplicated
Serial numbers supplied must be registered and tied to your account or device information will not be retrieved
After successfully saving the changes the enabled devices corresponding “Address” and “Last Seen” text boxes should be populated within a few minutes.The client form will send an ICMP ping request (every 30 seconds) to every enabled device’s corresponding IP address and indicate with a Red or Green sphere icon if a response is received. The “Ideco Sigma IOT Client Form” can be closed and does not need to be opened again as the “Ideco IOT service” is now set up. The Service starts up automatically with Windows and will manage terminal IP to Hostname mapping in the background without need of further intervention.
Once Sigma devices have been successfully added to the Ideco GSM Client they can be added to Jarrison Time.
Devices must be added with their Hostname and not their IP address as the IP address is subject to dynamic updates by service provider.
